Mr S Bhattacharya

Satya Bhattacharya
is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London.

He obtained his medical degree from Grant Medical College, Bombay and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and University College Hospitals in London. He took up his Consultant position in 1999.

His clinical interests include surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, radiofrequency ablation of tumours and laparoscopic surgery.

His research interests include chemo-embolisation of liver tumours and radiofrequency ablation of liver tumours.

He is also on the attending staff at the London Clinic, the London Independent Hospital and the King Edward VII Hospital.

Rob Hutchins
is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Surgical Sciences, Institute of Cancer.

He obtained his medical degree from St Bartholomew’s Medical School, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and Hammersmith Hospitals. He took up his Consultant position in 2002.

His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, and laparoscopic surgery. His research interests include techniques for liver resection, radiofrequency ablation of liver tumours, patient pathways, liver trauma and cholangiocarcinoma.

He is also on the attending staff at the London Bridge Hospital and the London Independent Hospital.

Hemant Kocher
is Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals, Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Tumour Biology, Institute of Cancer, and Department of Health National Clinician Scientist.

He obtained his medical degree from Bombay, India, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at King’s College Hospital. He took up his Consultant position in 2005.

His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, and laparoscopic surgery. His research interests include pancreatic cancer, role of stroma in cancer progression, meta-analysis and clinical trials.

He is on the attending staff at the London Clinic and the London Independent Hospital.

Ajit Abraham

He obtained his medical degree from Pune, India, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals. He took up his Consultant position in 2006.

His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts, laparoscopic surgery, trauma and surgical critical care. His research interests include experimental models of pancreatic cancer, patient pathways, justice in health care provision.

Jake McGhie qualified in 1993. She is a senior clinical nurse specialist and has been with the HPB Unit since 2003.

Role: HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist

Karen Mawire did her BSc in 2002 and has been with Barts and the London Trust since then. She moved from a ward sister’s role to join the the HPB Unit in 2007.
Lorraine Chitambo photo

Role: HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist
Lorraine qualified as a nurse in 2002 and joined Barts and the London shortly after that. She moved from the Trauma ward to join the the HPB Unit in 2009.
Sally Howe phoyo
Sally Howe
Role: MDT Co-ordinator
Sally Howe joined Barts and the London in 2002 and the HPB Unit in 2008. She receives all new referrals and organises the weekly multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting.
