Mr S Bhattacharya
Satya Bhattacharya is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London.
He obtained his medical degree from Grant Medical College, Bombay and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and University College Hospitals in London. He took up his Consultant position in 1999.
His clinical interests include surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, radiofrequency ablation of tumours and laparoscopic surgery.
His research interests include chemo-embolisation of liver tumours and radiofrequency ablation of liver tumours.
He is also on the attending staff at the London Clinic, the London Independent Hospital, the London Bridge Hospital and the King Edward VII Hospital.
Mr R R Hutchins
Rob Hutchins is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Surgical Sciences, Institute of Cancer.
He obtained his medical degree from St Bartholomew’s Medical School, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and Hammersmith Hospitals. He took up his Consultant position in 2002.
His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, and laparoscopic surgery. His research interests include techniques for liver resection, radiofrequency ablation of liver tumours, patient pathways, liver trauma and cholangiocarcinoma.
He is also on the attending staff at the London Bridge Hospital the London Clinic and the London Independent Hospital.
Mr H M Kocher
Hemant Kocher is Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals, Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Tumour Biology, Institute of Cancer, and Department of Health National Clinician Scientist.
He obtained his medical degree from Bombay, India, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at King’s College Hospital. He took up his Consultant position in 2005.
His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile duct, and laparoscopic surgery. His research interests include pancreatic cancer, role of stroma in cancer progression, meta-analysis and clinical trials.
Mr A T Abraham
Ajit Abraham is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London.
He obtained his medical degree from Pune, India, and trained in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals. He took up his Consultant position in 2006.
His clinical interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts, laparoscopic surgery, trauma and surgical critical care. His research interests include experimental models of pancreatic cancer, patient pathways, justice in health care provision.
Specialist Nurses and Co-ordinator
Role: HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist
Debbie Chappelow qualified in 2000 and has worked with the Barts and the London NHS Trust since. She has worked in the HPB Unit from 2005.
Clinical interests: HPB cancers and patient pathways.
Role: Senior HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist
Jake McGhie qualified in 1993 and has worked with Barts and The London Trust for seven years. She has been the Senior Nurse Specialist working with the HPB Centre since 2003.
Clinical interests: HPB cancers, radiofrequency ablation and portal vein embolisation.
Role: Multidisciplinary team co-ordinator
Donna Bush has been with the team from 2004 and co-ordinates the referral process and treatment pathway for HPB cancer patients.
